Asian-Americans in Competitive Rubik’s Cube Solving

With competitive speedcubing becoming more popular over the years, there have been more significant Asian-American figures in the community.

One of the greatest speedcubers of all time is Max Park, who currently holds nine different world records in disciplines ranging from 3×3 to 7×7. Breaking a total of 85 world records in his career, Max has achieved a level of dominance unseen since Feliks Zemdegs’ career.

Another talented speedcuber is Matty Hiroto Inaba. While he has not had the large amount of records that Max Park has attained over the years, Matty is a world class cuber in multiple different disciplines, with top times in many of the NxN categories.

Sameer Aggarwal is another top Asian-American speedcuber, with his specialty being in Square-1, as he has held two Square-1 world records in the past. He’s also highly ranked in many other categories, with his 2×2 single time of 0.51 seconds being one of the best in the world.

Zayn Khanani has been the dominant 2×2 solver, being probably the best 2×2 solver currently. He’s also one of the top skewb solvers too, holding multiple world records in that category, too.

Although speedcubing is not the biggest community out there, I think it’s important to see Asian-American representation in an activity that I love to participate in.
