As many of the Olympic events have come to an end, and others are slowly coming to an end, Asian-American athletes have been a significant part of the American resurgence in the medal table. At the time of writing, the United States is now tied with China with 21 gold medals, and in the total medals category, the United States has by far the most with 79 medals.

Last time, I mentioned Torri Huske as an Asian-American swimmer who won one gold medal and two silver medals. On Saturday, August 3, Torri Huske helped the United States win a gold medal in the Mixed 4x100m Medley Relay. Just a day later, Huske contributed to the United States’ victory in the Women’s 4x100m Medley Relay, a world record time of 3:49.63. The team not only finished more than three seconds ahead of second place, the Australians, but they also broke the former world record (3:50.40) by nearly a whole second. While this caps off the swimming events at the Olympics, Huske’s immense success from this year’s Olympic games will be a memorable achievement!

Similarly, Hmong-American gymnast Sunisa Lee won a bronze medal in the All-Around competition, and her teammate Simone Biles won the gold medal. She also won a bronze medal in the Women’s Uneven Bars event on August 4, where she was the highest-placing American athlete. Unfortunately, her performance in the Women’s Balance Beam event performance could not bring a podium placement on August 5.

Likewise, last time, Lee Kiefer won a gold medal for the United States in the Women’s Individual Foil Fencing event. Now, she has won another gold medal in the Women’s Team Foil Fencing event. This victory is especially historic because it marks the United States’ first gold medal in a team fencing event. For Lee Kiefer, her immaculate performance in the Paris 2024 Olympics has brought her great success and a position among the best American fencers of all time. With three Olympic gold medals, Kiefer becomes the first American fencer to achieve such a feat!

There are still five days remaining in the Olympics, with the closing ceremony set to occur on August 11, 2024. There are still multiple events remaining, and we hope to see some more entertaining events to come!
