With the Olympics Closing Ceremony over, the Paris 2024 Olympic Games have officially ended.

As mentioned in my original post about the Olympics, breakdancing is one of the new competitions implemented into the Olympics. The United States sent two Asian-American b-girls (the term for female breakdancers), Sunny Choi and Logan Edra. While both are ranked highly, neither of them found much success at the inaugural Olympic breaking competition, with both being eliminated in their respective groups.

While the table tennis events ended a while ago, I think it’s still worth discussing Indian-American Kanak Jha’s historical accomplishment in reaching the round of 16 before ultimately falling to the eventual winner and Fan Zhendong. Furthermore, Lily Zhang, Amy Wang, and Rachel Sung also competed together in the women’s team event before being knocked out by Germany in the round of 16. Lily Zhang and Amy Wang also played in the women’s singles event, with Lily Zhang losing in the round of 16 and Amy Wang falling in the round of 32.

For the final standings of this year’s Olympic Games, the United States completed its comeback and ended in first place with 40 gold medals, the same amount as China. However, the United States’ 126 total medals were significantly more than China’s 91, giving them the edge.
