Many of you have probably heard the name Holi, but what is it? The Hindu holiday is known as the “Festival of Colors” because of the vibrant colors involved, celebrating the arrival of spring and the end of winter. This year, the festival is taking place in a couple of days on March 25.

How Do People Celebrate Holi?

During the celebration of Holi, people gather in public spaces, bringing colored powders, water guns, and water balloons. They throw these objects at one another, embellishing the air and other people with various colors. People also like to chat, drink beverages, and enjoy food together. Overall, the celebration highlights unity within society, as it brings everyone together, no matter their background, for a fun event!

How Can You Join in on the Festivities?

There are many ways that you can join in on the celebrations. Learning about the holiday to gain a better understanding of different cultures can be a great way to involve oneself. Holi is truly an international festival, with people celebrating the holiday all over the world.
