Xander Schauffele’s tremendous victory at The 152nd Open Championship played at Royal Troon Golf Club marks the end of this year’s major season and an immensely successful season for him. Born to a mother of Japanese descent but a Taiwanese national, Xander Schauffle’s maternal side of the family is Asian.

After a strong start, consistent performances, and an excellent finish to the week, Schauffele hoisted the renowned claret jug on the 21st of July. His victory capped off a successful season of major championships, as he won not only The Open Championship but also this year’s PGA Championship back in May. Brooks Koepka was the last person to win two majors in one season in 2018 when he won the U.S. Open and the PGA Championship. Furthermore, with his victory at Royal Troon Golf Club, the United States swept all four majors for the first time since 1982.

Schauffele turned professional in 2015, but it took him a year to get his PGA Tour card, as he debuted on the PGA Tour in 2016. Since then, Shauffele has become one of the best golfers in the world. Despite his consistently high rankings on the Official World Golf Rankings, Schauffele could not win a major championship until 2024, with his most notable win being at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics, where he won the gold medal for the men’s golf event.

Winning The Open Championship has made Xander Schauffele one of the favorites for the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics men’s golf event, which begins tomorrow. Schauffele’s success has made him a role model for many up-and-coming Asian-American golfers and golfers in general. With rising pressures, we hope to see Xander Schauffele continue to find success in the Olympics and beyond!
